The People’s Colloquium is primarily for adults (ages 18+), although with guardian consent and oversight, we also welcome youth who wish to take part and can benefit from involvement in our workshops and discussions.
This mandatory Parent / Guardian Consent & Release Form requests your consent to a youth member’s participation in activities that include certain adult elements, and your release of The People’s Colloquium from liability deriving from such adult elements.
Content Warnings and Strict Prohibitions
Adult themes and diverse perspectives are essential to The People’s Colloquium’s workshops and discussions. In order to balance freedom of creative and artistic expression with the sensitivities of our members, The People’s Colloquium uses a content warning system to identify materials that may be offensive to others.
A content warning is a written warning preceding the creative work. The form for a content warning is provided in The People’s Colloquium: Guidelines for Workshop Participation.
Content warnings apply to the following types of content. However, this list is nonexclusive:
Additionally, The People’s Colloquium imposes a strict prohibition on certain types of content. We disallow workshop submissions that:
Your role as parent/guardian: In addition to the above safeguards, parents and guardians of youth members are expected to review each workshop submission in its entirety and approve its appropriateness for the youth member. Therefore, regardless of content warnings or the lack thereof, the parent or guardian is expected to review and approve each workshop submission in full before the youth member participates in the workshop.
If a parent or guardian finds a workshop submission inappropriate for the youth member, The People’s Colloquium will provide an alternate submission, again with the expectation that the parents and guardians of the youth member will review the alternate submission in its entirety and approve its appropriateness for the youth member.
Alcohol on Premises
The People’s Colloquium may conduct workshops and other meetings in venues where minors are allowed, but alcohol is served within a portion of the premises. Abuse of alcohol is prohibited in The People’s Colloquium: Guidelines for Workshop Participation. The People’s Colloquium expects youth members to comply with all laws relating to the possession or use of alcohol as a condition of membership. The People’s Colloquium takes no responsibility for youth members’ unlawful possession or use of alcohol while participating in The People’s Colloquium’s activities, or for any liability resulting therefrom.

I consent to my child’s participation in The People’s Colloquium’s activities where alcohol may be present.
