Foundationalism is a theory of justification, justifying that knowledge rests on some foundation. What is that foundation, and how does one justify that?

Countering foundationalism are coherentism, foundherentism, natural-reliabilism, and so on, ultimately, anti-foundationalism. How is one to know which is valid? Is there a way to know? And how does one justify that?

We’ll look at Descartes’s foundationalism as a jumping-off point, rejecting it and its detractors, and from which we’ll arrive at modern foundationalism.
