1) Heidegger tells us that cultural transformation is impossible without answering the question of what is the meaning of being. 2) If we’re going to figure out what it means for something to be, we have to pick something to assess. 3) Heidegger suggests we start with examining the being of human Dasein. 4) It is popularly considered that Humans are different from things and animals. 5) Humans have concern over the disposition of our lives, and we have our being in and through “world,” that is, through various meaningful contexts and projects. 6) It is within those projects that we encounter other things and other people. 7) Other Daseins not only show up in my meaningful contexts but also determine who “I” am — the They provide the context and we exist only in subjection to that context. 8) The moment when Dasein begins to acknowledge and accept its cultural situatedness and then seeks to work with it and modify it is the moment when Dasein becomes authentic. 9) Authenticity is a return to culture.
