Today’s publishing industry can be somewhat confusing—and well, there’s a lot that gets involved when a book is acquired and goes into its publication process. This process can, at times, take up to an entire year! So, what all goes into bringing a book to life?
This class is geared towards writers and readers who are interested in understanding the different publishing outlets available in today’s industry, as well as how to identify what will work best for your author style. Finding the right fit for your book is extremely important when it comes to how and where you want your book to be seen. The decision to choosing a small press over the Big Five can be something as minimal as having that one-on-one relationship with your editor. With so many choices in today’s industry, this class will dive into the several aspects to consider when finding your book a home, what to expect from a Big Five house versus a small press, and even the pros and cons to choosing the self-publishing route.
This class is the last of four in a series of classes taught by Brennah Hale. Join in on this discussion as we begin to divulge what exactly is today’s publishing industry.
