How long will I have to write poetry for a theme?
3-4 months. It depends on everyone's schedules and the general excitement for the theme.
Is it possible that themes will be switched sooner?
Yes, in the case that the group loses interest in the current theme.
Can I write more than one poem for a particular theme?
Yes, you're welcome to write, let's try, up to 5 poems per theme. This number may change as we get settled into a rhythm.
Do I have to write poetry for the poetry blog?
No, you don't have to. While I'm hopeful that themes will be widely appealing, if a theme doesn't appeal to you, please skip writing for the blog and wait until the next theme is chosen, which will hopefully be more to your liking.
How do I upload poetry to the blog?
Do poems for the blog have to be critiqued before they appear on the blog?
This is recommended, but only necessary if you wish. Send your poetry over to me for uploading to the blog whenever you're comfortable with sharing it with the world.
Will the poems be edited before they appear on the blog?
Yes, they'll be edited for typos and misspellings, but not for style, content, or form.
Do poems for the blog have to follow a particular format or style?
No, unless otherwise specified by the chosen theme.
Will any poems be rejected from appearing on the blog?
Maybe, as for instance, in the case that the poem's content is controversial. We'll take this on a case-by-case basis for now, so I'll say just use your best judgement when writing and submitting for the blog. If any issues come up, we'll figure out the best way forward together.
Will the poems appear anywhere else beside the blog?
If the poetry group is particularly inspired by the current theme, we'll draw together the best poems written for that theme and print them together in an anthology. We'll then find some local artists to provide artwork to compliment our words.
Can I take down my poetry from the blog once it's been uploaded?
Yes, you're welcome to take down your poetry from the blog for any reason. For instance, you edited your poem (though please keep this to a minimum!) or your poem is published elsewhere.
