Class: Writing a Winning Query Letter
Taught by Kellye McBride
This course will cover three types of query letters in depth, including fiction cover letters, magazine writing, and blogs/other online content. First, we will go over the basics of what editors are looking for in terms of a clear and consistent query and how to read a submissions guide thoroughly. Then, we will go through the process of writing a query step by step depending on the type of publication and how to tailor your message as concisely and precisely as possible. Finally, we will go over the mechanics of troubleshooting query letters that aren’t working and learn how to improve them through simple tweaks. Each person who takes this course should then be able to walk away with an improved skill set and be able to query with confidence.
